Channel 4′ medical documentary series continues with a powerful and cautionary instalment concerning events which shock people into reflecting on the way they live their lives.
39 Year old Neil was driving a friend’s sports car when he was involved in a head-on collision with another vehicle. After remaining trapped in the wreckage for over an hour, he’s flown by the helicopter emergency medics to King’s College A&E. The main concern from the get-go is potential paralysis, from injury to Neil’s neck and back.
This episode also focuses on two patients who have come in as the result of daredevil antics. 21 year old Tomassine is a fledgling skateboarder who was egged on by her best friend Andre to attempt a risky stunt in the park. As a result of this she’s badly hurt her ankle.
Finally we meet 34 year old Matias, who tried to get on a train after the doors had closed. With his hands trapped Matias was dragged along the platform until he managed to pull himself free.
24 Hours in A&E continues tonight on Channel 4 at 9pm
